Welcome to my monthly blog post where I create a positive affirmation inspired by a card reading for the month of December! Feel free to embrace this intention as your guiding light for the month (or for as long as it speaks to you)!
This month's tarot reading serves as a reminder that when you nurture you own well-being, you can create a life of abundance!
Explore the detailed card reading below and embrace whatever resonates with you, while letting go of anything that doesn't. Remember, powerful messages have a way of finding you when you open your heart and pay attention. 💕
Intention Setting CARD Reading
I love my seasonal themed decks and this particular deck is no exception. This holiday and mid-winter celebration deck is so charming and filled with yuletide tales and traditional celebrations that warms and my heart and soul! 🎄❄️
QUEEN OF gifts (Pentacles)
The Queen of Gifts (Pentacles in traditional tarot) symbolizes a harmonious balance blending stability and generosity while enjoying the finer things in life. She's the quintessential nurturer, radiating warmth, kindness and love to those she cherishes.
This month, let her inspire you to prioritize self-care, especially during this busy season. If you're the one organizing holiday plans and buying gifts, remember to savour each moment, and if the chaos of the season becomes overwhelming, channel the Queen’s wisdom—slow down, breathe deeply, and ground yourself.
This Queen teaches us that abundance isn't just about material wealth—it's about cultivating a grateful heart and nourishing our spirit. So, take a moment each day to connect with the earth, feel gratitude for the small things, and practice self-care. When you take care of yourself, you're able to nurture and support those around you even more.
Incorporate practices that nourish your soul. Perhaps a walk in nature with your pet, family member or friend, sipping a cup of hot chocolate or chai tea, or indulging in a soothing yoga nidra session. Allow gratitude to flow through you and transform everyday moments into gifts of abundance.
Below are positive affirmations that resonate with the energy of the Queen of Gifts:
- I cultivate abundance and stability in all areas of my life.
- I nurture myself and others with love and care.
- I am grounded, balanced, and open to receiving prosperity.
- I create a nurturing environment for my dreams to flourish.
three of canes (swords)
The Three of Canes (Swords in traditional tarot) encourages us to acknowledge the power of our thoughts. Often, it's not the situations themselves but our perceptions and inner dialogues that cause us stress and sadness. It serves as a gentle reminder to pause and identify those thoughts that may not be serving us well, allowing us space to heal and regain clarity.
Think of this card as an invitation to nurture your mental well-being. When we allow ourselves time to heal, we make room for rejuvenation and clearer thinking. By practicing compassion towards ourselves, we can gently shift our mindset, transforming fears into opportunities for growth and self-discovery.
Take this moment as an opportunity to clear your mind and heart of unnecessary burdens. Remember, transforming your inner world can spark a change in your outer world. Use the energy of the Queen of Gifts (above) to encourage self-care, compassion and kindness for yourself as you take time to heal old wounds, or let go of limitations that aren't serving your highest good.
Below are affirmations that align with the energy of the Three of Canes:
- I let go of past hurts and open my heart to healing.
- My thoughts are powerful and can transform my life.
- I compassionately and lovingly take time to heal and nurture myself.
xii - the hanged man
The Hanged Man in tarot is a powerful card that invites us to pause and embrace a shift in perspective. This is my personal downward facing dog card in Yoga where we get to look at things upside down.
This card is a gentle reminder that sometimes the most profound insights come when we take a step back and look at things from a different angle. This is a time for surrendering to the process and allowing ourselves to let go of control. By pausing our usual way of thinking, we open the door to new possibilities and clearer thinking. It's about finding meaning in stillness and trusting that this moment of suspension is leading us to deeper understanding and growth.
In this moment of reflection, consider what areas of your life might benefit from a shift in perspective. Embrace the silence and the unknown, knowing that this temporary halt can act as a catalyst for deep, personal growth. Trust in the journey, and let the Hanged Man guide you to new heights of understanding.
Below are affirmations that represent the energy of the Hanged Man:
- I embrace the power of pause and gain new perspectives.
- I am open to change and trust the process of transformation.
- In stillness, I find clarity and inner peace.
questions you can contemplate: 🤔
Journaling is a powerful tool for self-reflection and growth. If any of these resonate with you, take your time as you reflect and allow your thoughts and feelings to flow. Be open to the insights and clarity that may arise.
- In what ways can I create more abundance in my life?
- How do I nurture myself and those around me?
- What past hurts am I holding onto, and how can I begin to let them go?
- How can I approach my emotions with compassion and understanding?
- How can I allow myself to pause and gain new insights?
- What areas of my life could benefit from a change in perspective?
SOME THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN USING AN INTENTION:
- Write it down and put it where you can see it regularly (bathroom mirror, desk, beside table, wallet, etc).
- Say it several times a day clearly affirming it - you can stand in a power pose (like running across the finish line), hands on hips (like Wonder Woman), placing your hands on your heart, or even doing a little dance. Whatever makes you feel like this intention is possible when you say it, then do that!
- Visualize for just a few minutes each day your intention as if it has already come true.
- Practice your favourite Yoga Nidra meditation that allows you to state your intention during the practice. When the mind and body are relaxed, your mind is much more susceptible to suggestions, so this can help make this intention become true for you even quicker than by doing it on a conscious level alone.
