Intention of the Month - June 2023

Welcome to my monthly blog post where I create a simple intention based on a monthly card reading!  If this intention resonates with you, feel free to use it as a focus for this month (or however long feels right for you)!

The cards that I pulled for this month's reading really spoke to me in a profound way.  When we are called to start something new, it can be scary to take that first step.  We try to imagine the entire journey and prepare for every obstacle that may pop up.  This can prevent us from moving forward and staying stuck is sometimes more difficult than venturing ahead.  I know personally I need this intention in my life now and if it speaks to you, I hope you've been inspired in some way to begin a new path.

Read below for the full card reading and take what feels good for you and leave the rest.  Messages are meant to find you in the most peculiar ways when you're willing to notice and listen ;)

Some things to keep in mind when using an intention:

  • Write it down and put it where you can see it regularly (bathroom mirror, desk, beside table, wallet, etc).
  • Say it several times a day clearly affirming it - you can stand in a power pose (like running across the finish line), hands on hips (like Wonder Woman), placing your hands on your heart, or even doing a little dance.  Whatever makes you feel like this intention is possible when you say it, then do that!
  • Visualize for just a few minutes each day your intention as if it has already come true.
  • Practice your favourite Yoga Nidra meditation that allows you to state your intention during the practice.  When the mind and body are relaxed, your mind is much more susceptible to suggestions, so this can help make this intention become true for you even quicker than by doing it on a conscious level alone.

Intention Setting Reading

1st Card - new beginnings (27)

You are being invited to open up to new beginnings that await you!  If you are feeling called to take that first step, you're being supported on this journey.  Sometimes we lack the confidence to venture ahead because we fear the unknown.  This is perfectly natural.  But if we always stay in our "comfort zone" we can miss out on bright new beginnings that are just waiting to be seized.

2nd Card - reflection

I find it very curious to see this card of reflection that is part of this monthly intention of embracing new beginnings.  This card is calling you to see this new beginning from a different perspective in a time of intentional pause.  So, on one hand you're being invited to embrace a new beginning, and on the other hand, you're being invited to surrender and pause.....I love the introspection that this brings.  New beginnings can encompass a new way of thinking.  Perhaps this new beginning is seeing this situation from a different perspective and becoming aware of what is lifting you up, and what is dragging you down.  Healing an emotional wound may be the start of a new beginning and taking time for self-care and reflection is key now.

3rd Card - 5 of water

The 5 of water brings a message of taking the time needed to heal an emotional wound that may be present.  When we experience grief, loss, disappointment or pain, sometimes we rush through the process and we don't devote the time and energy to allowing the emotions to be present so we can heal and move forward.  Again, an interesting card when we look at embracing new beginnings.  Please know that healing these tender wounds can take time, and if you're experiencing these emotions, please seek help and support in this process.  This is also an invitation to see what is still remaining.  Often in times of emotional discomfort, we lose sight of what we can learn or gain through this process and know that brighter times are just ahead.  Take inventory of what brings you joy and what can inspire you through this healing process.  Self-love, acceptance and compassion will be of great service to you on this path.

4th Card - balance

The balance cards brings a message of......you got it......balance!  Where in your life can you create a sense of balance, harmony and middle ground?  Sometimes we see things in extremes and take an all or nothing attitude.  That rarely works, and if it does, we can't stay in that zone for too long.  How can you bring opposing forces together to stay in harmony and take small steps towards growth?  This card ties in so perfectly in the lens of embracing new beginnings.  We don't have to go all in and leave everything else behind when starting a new journey.  We can take one small step, and then the next step will present itself.  All is takes is a willingness to move forward and create an opportunity for growth.  Take the middle road and see where this new beginning takes you!  Lead in love, embrace courage and compassion.

JUMPER CARD - 2 of earth

Ok, so what's a jumper card?  It's when a card pops out of the deck (usually face up) when I'm shuffling for a reading.  This card wanted to make an appearance as part of this reading, so I've included it here and it's a magical pairing.

The 2 of Earth is another card that holds a message of balance.  So, we can see that it's a strong theme in this month's reading.  Normally I will read this card in the perspective of how can you bring more balance into your life, but I'm seeing in this particular reading, that the balance lies in the healing process on this journey.  This reading is bringing awareness to the idea of embracing new beginnings, but it's also asking us to reflect, take time to heal, and take baby steps.  How can we balance all of these situations and move forward at the same time?  Fear keeps us stuck and afraid to move ahead.  Sometimes we feel that we cannot move forward until we have completely healed and have it all figured out.  So, with this message I see it as a compassionate nudge to say it's ok to balance fear and courage to step ahead.  Again, if you are needing support to move along this journey or helping to heal wounds, please give yourself permission to source the support that best suits you.  Along the lines of balance is the need to make yourself a priority and balance self-care and priorities to help you on this path.  Ensure you include activities that help you rest and heal, but don't forget to have some fun too.  Best wishes to you on this bright new journey ahead.

questions you can contemplate: 🤔

  • What new beginning is calling you?
  • What is one thing you can do to step in the direction of your new beginning?
  • How can you see this new beginning from a different perspective?
  • Is there an emotional wound that is ready to be healed or to start the healing process?
  • How can you take the middle ground as you embark on this new beginning?
  • Do you make yourself a priority?  If not, what is one thing you can start doing to make yourself a priority?
